Life Hack: Clear a drain without chemicals
How it works: Whether it's in your shower or kitchen sink, it's inevitable that you will face a drain that slowed down. It's no fun standing in a pool of water while you shower, nor running out to buy expensive chemicals. Try using two common household items to clear a drain and void noxious fumes: baking soda and vinegar.
How it actually worked: Pour one cup of baking soda and one cup of vinegar into a slow drain. Wait 15 minutes and flush with hot water. Repeat if necessary.
Life changing?: For this guy, yes. I've been using this method for years and, since I've started living in apartments in college, have only bought one bottle of a commercial drain cleaner. For tough jobs, it may take two or three cycles. But you'll thank yourself when your house doesn't smell like toxic fumes.
