Local roundup: McCann Tech boys bounced from tournament by Hampden Charter
SPRINGFIELD >> The McCann Tech boys earned a trip to the Western Massachusetts Division IV tournament when it got a forfeit victory in the last game of the regular season.
The tournament committee didn't plan for it to happen but the Hornets got to face that same team in the tourney's opening round. This time, Hampden Charter didn't have to worry about playing a junior varsity player in the varsity game, and this time, Hampden got credit for the win.
Jason and Justin Feliciano combined for 34 points as Hampden beat McCann 63-48 Tuesday night. Jason Feliciano had a game-high 23 points.
McCann's Ethan Sheldon had 17 points.
Darrow School basketball drops pair of games
The Darrow School boys and girls basketball teams finished up their seasons over the weekend, with both falling in the semifinals of the Hudson Valley Athletic League tournament.
The boys traveled to Storm King School and fell 77-43.
The game was the final for seniors Aaron Yang, Can Taylan, Jasneal Pabla, Kofi Poku, and Kyle Ragland.
"Their work in this year's season is much appreciated, and we look forward to news of their successes in years to come," coach Caleb Corliss said.
The girls went to Marvelwood and were handed a 62-21 loss.
Senior co-captain Rochelle Foster had 11 points to lead the team.
