Local roundup: MCLA men's soccer falls to Montclair State in season opener
MONTCLAIR, N.J. >> Montclair State used two second-half goals to cement its win over MCLA in the season opener on Thursday.
The Redhawks out-shot the Trailblazers 25-3, with 15 of those shots coming on goal.
Damian Bziukiewicz scored twice for the host. His first goal came 51 seconds into the game. Lucas Terci added a goal in the 82nd minute and Bziukiewicz netted the final goal one minute later.
Kam Anderson made 11 saves for MCLA.
EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 3, MCLA 0
WILLIMANTIC, CONN. >> MCLA dropped a close second set, before Eastern Connecticut State completed the sweep, winning 25-21, 25-23 and 25-14.
In the second set, MCLA jumped out to a 10-5 lead, but the Warriors rallied back, tying the match at 18-18. The teams traded points before two MCLA errors put ECSU up 22-20. MCLA fought back tying the match at 22-22 and 23-23, but a 'Blazers service error led to Michelle Valliere's game-clinching service ace.
Rebecca Goodbout led MCLA with five kills and 10 digs.
