Local roundup: NECBL All-Star Game starters announced

The starters were announced for the upcoming NECBL All-Star Game, which will be held in Newport, R.I. on July 17.

The North Adams SteepleCats do not have any starters. For the North, the Keene Swampbats, Vermont Mountaineers, Sanford Mainers and Winnipesaukee Muskrats each have two starters. The Upper Valley Nighthawks and Valley Blue Sox each have one.

For the South, the Ocean State Waves and Mystic Schooners each have three starters while the Danbury Westerners and New Bedford Bay Sox each have two. The Plymouth Pilgrims and Newport Gulls each have none.

Starters for both teams are listed below.

10-11 Little League

PITTSFIELD AMERICAN 13, PITTSFIELD NATIONAL 7

PITTSFIELD >> Pittsfield American won the 10-11 Little League District tournament with a victory over Pittsfield National at Springside Park on Saturday.

Cam Sine was the winning pitcher for American. Chase Ricine and Antonio Scalise each contributed two hits for an American offense that produced 11 runs in the third and fourth innings combined. Brandon Mazzeo, Nick Brindle and Connor Lavinio also registered hits for American.

For National, Matt Lee homered, tripled and recorded a single. Adam Lazits also hit a home run.

American advances to the sectional tournament after winning the three-team district bracket.

11-12 Little League

GREAT BARRINGTON 17, NORTH ADAMS 5

GREAT BARRINGTON >> The Great Barrington 11-12 year-old All-Stars stayed alive in the loser's bracket with a win over North Adams. The win eliminates North Adams from the district tournament.

Great Barrington pulled away with five runs in the second inning and six runs in the third.

Rayford Mueller had two home runs and seven RBI for Great Barrington. Peter LaRochelle and Chase Bermuellen had three hits each. LaRochelle earned the win on the mound as well.

Seneca Bolte led North Adams with two hits and two RBI. Allen Marceau had a double.

Great Barrington awaits the winner of today's Dalton-Hinsdale and Adams game.

PITTSFIELD NATIONAL 22, ADAMS 1

ADAMS >> In a rain-shortened game, Pittsfield National jumped out to an early lead, defeating Adams. Despite playing only two whole innings, Adams conceded the game, making it official.

Jonathan Monahan led Pittsfield with three hits including a home run and four RBI. Sam Sherman had three hits and four RBI. Stevie Zuccalo had two hits and two RBI. Jayden Keefner had two hits.

Carson Meczywor led Adams with a home run. Justin Chen had a single.

National plays American in the winner's bracket final at today at noon.
