WESTFIELD — The Pittsfield American 11-12 Little League team took care of business against Westfield American on Wednesday, winning 11-1 in five innings in the first game of the Section I tournament.

Kieran Coscia registered the win for Pittsfield. The American offense was powered by Brendan Stannard, who hit the walk-off single in the fifth. Stannard and Nolan DeGroff each hit a two-run home run in the game.

Luke Mele, Pat Ryndfuss and Bo Bramer each had two hits in the game for Pittsfield. For Westfield, catcher Alex LaCourse contributed the team's one run on a homerun.

Pittsfield will play Holden tonight at 5:30 at Deming Park.

HOLDEN >> Holden defeated Pittsfield American 16-9 on Tuesday night to win the 10-11 Little League Section I tournament.

Chase Racine homered and doubled for Pittsfield while Brandon Mazzeo contributed a home run as well. Evan Blake recorded two hits, including a double, for American while Nick Brindle also registered two hits.

Pittsfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, including a Racine double, a Blake single and a couple of walks. Holden got one back in the bottom of the inning to cut it to 3-1.

Blake doubled in the second and Racine added a three-run homer to give Pittsfield a 6-1 advantage, but Holden again answered, this time with a three-run shot of its own to make it 6-4.

American's offense kept the pressure up, though, as Brindle contributed a two-run single after Charlie Heimann singled en route to an 8-4 Pittsfield advantage.

However, that's when Holden scored nine times on six hits, including another three-run homer, to take a 13-8 lead.

Pittsfield got one back in the fourth on the Mazzeo home run and had bases loaded with one out, but didn't score. Holden added three more runs in the bottom of the inning to take the 16-9 lead.

Neither team scored in the fifth or sixth innings.
