MONTPELIER, VT. >> The red-hot North Adams SteepleCats rolled to their fourth-straight win on Tuesday night.
The SteepleCats pounded Vermont pitchers for 15 hits in a 10-0 win. The victory pulled North Adams into a tie with Valley for second place in the NECBL's Northern Division, 2 1/2 games behind division leader Sanford. But the Blue Sox were playing New Bedford and that game was not completed at press time.
Ben Olson and three relievers combined to throw a two-hit shutout. Olson threw five innings of no-hit baseball. He walked one, struck out three and threw 55 pitches — 35 for strikes. The left-hander from Bradley University (4-1) has won his last three starts.
The no-hit bid ended in the seventh inning when Vermont pinch hitter Davis Feldman singled off of reliever Josh Simpson.
North Adams gave Olson and his bullpen tag team all the runs they'd need in the second inning. Kyle Brennan hit a sacrifice fly and Nick Riotto had a run-scoring single to make it 2-0.
The SteepleCats broke open the game with four runs in the fifth inning. C.J. Price, who went 4 for 5 with two singles and two doubles, drove in two runs with a single. Price also had three runs batted in and three runs scored. John Mazza and Brennan followed with RBI singles.
Riotto, Noah Vaughan and Daniel Holst all had two hits each.
North Adams is off until Friday, when the SteepleCats travel Maine to play division-leading Sanford.
