Posted

WILLIAMSTOWN — Pat Storie capped his scoring in the best way possible on Thursday, burying a 3-pointer with five seconds left to lift his Mount Greylock boys basketball team to a 57-55 win over Wahconah.

Storie scored a game-high 26 points in the win, including 10 in the fourth quarter alone.

Wahconah led 45-38 after three quarters, but the Mounties mounted a furious comeback in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

"It was just a really hard-fought game back-and-forth," Greylock coach Bob Thistle. "We are really proud of the kids. The kids are the ones that executed. It was a great team win, but Pat hit a huge shot for us."

Wahconah was led by Luke Steinman with 17 points.

LEE 50, MONUMENT MOUNTAIN 48

GREAT BARRINGTON >> Monument coach Mike Saporito was fairly succinct in summing up Thursday's home loss to Lee.

"If you told me at the beginning of the game [Josh] Sampson and [Matt] Reynolds would combine for 12 points, I think we'd win," said the Spartan coach. "Give Lee credit. They got a really good game off the bench by Pichardo."

That would be Randy Pichardo, who came off the bench to score 12 points, leading the Wildcats. He was joined in the scoring pad with a 12-point performance by Noah Johnson, who was 4 for 5 from outside the 3-point arc.

The Spartans (4-5) fell behind 16-5 in the first quarter and spent the rest of the game catching up.

Branden Perry had a game-high 21 points and Kevin Troiano added 11 for Monument.
