Local roundup: Suns lose on road to Martha's Vineyard

MARTHA'S VINEYARD >> The Pittsfield Suns lost a road game to the Martha's Vineyard Sharks 3-2 on Wednesday.

For Pittsfield, Sean Rackoski went 2 for 3 with a run scored while Al Zachary walked four times. Austin Hansen produced a quality start for the Suns, going six innings and allowing three runs on four hits while striking out five and walking three.

For Martha's Vineyard, Jake Farrell went 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored. Mac Curran pitched the final 4 1/3 innings for the Sharks to pick up the win. Sean Rackoski pitched the opening 4 2/3 innings.

The Suns are back in action today at Brockton at 7 p.m.

BABE RUTH 13'S

ROCHESTER, N.H. >> The Pittsfield Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Stars were eliminated from the New England Regional Tournament on Wednesday when the team fell 5-3 to Keene, N.H.

Pittsfield went undefeated in pool play en route to the No. 1 seed in Division B. That matched the squad up in the semifinals with Division A No. 2 seed Keene.

Keene will play Taunton, Mass. — the No. 2 team from Division B — in the championship today at 11 a.m. Taunton defeated Waterford, Conn. 7-6 in the other semifinal.

Pittsfield picked up wins over Taunton, Augusta, Maine and Rochester, N.H. in pool play.

HOLE IN ONE

LENOX >> Stuart Acker achieved a hole in one at Cranwell Spa and Golf Resort on Wednesday.

Acker used a four-iron on the 190-yard 12th hole, one of the tougher holes at Cranwell.
