Local roundup: Wahconah girls lacrosse falls to Bromfield in Central/West Division II tournament

HARVARD >> The Wahconah girls lacrosse team had its season come to an end with a 19-7 loss to No. 1 Bromfield in the MIAA Central/West Division II quarterfinals on Friday.

The No. 8 Warriors finish the year with a 17-5 record.

BRISTOL 6, PITTSFIELD 2

BRISTOL, CONN. >> A night after Bristol needed 12 innings to dispatch Pittsfield, the Blues got it done in nine innings on Friday.

Bristol scored two runs in the first and three runs in the third to prove more than enough insurance against the Suns (1-2).

R.J. Hall took the loss for Pittsfield, going seven innings while giving up nine hits and five earned runs. He walked two and struck out nine.

Bristol's John Arel got the win, going five innings while striking out eight on just three hits. He walked one and gave up one run.

Eric Hamilton had a solid day at the plate in the loss. He went 3 for 4 with a double and scored both Pittsfield runs. Colin Gimblet went 2 for 3 at the plate, driving in Hamilton twice.

For Bristol, Frankie Gregoire hit a triple. The Suns gave up five extra-base hits.

Pittsfield turns around and plays today at home against Nashua.
