Local roundup: Wahconah girls pick up 4-1 victory over Lenox

LENOX >> Arden McKnight, Emmy Cote and Becky Steele scored for the Wahconah girls soccer team as the Warriors picked up a 4-1 win over Lenox.

McKnight opened the scoring for Wahconah (5-4) before Abby Schilling tied it for the Millionaires (7-2-1). But an own goal gave the Warriors a 2-1 advantage before Emmy Cote's penalty kick put the road team up by two heading into the break. Becky Steele put the game out or reach with 10 minutes remaining.

Michaela Moncecchi had 10 saves for Wahconah while Taylor Knight recorded five stops for Lenox while Shannon Meisberger had four.

Kristen Borelli had an assist for Taconic.

NEW LONDON, CONN. >> Kristi Kirshe collected a loose ball in a scramble in the 36th minute for Williams in the Ephs' win.

Williams, the No. 2 team in the country, received a shutout from goalkeeper Olivia Barnhill, who had 11 saves.

The Ephs are back in action today at Castleton.

CONN. COLLEGE 2, WILLIAMS MEN 1

NEW LONDON, CONN. >> Malcolm Singletons scored in the fifth minute to give Williams the lead, but Connecticut College pulled out the victory.

Pat Devlin tied the game in the 31st minute for the hosts while Chris Lockwood put back a rebound at the far post in the 82nd minute to win it for Conn. College.

Williams is back in action on Oct. 11 at Skidmore.

MCLA MEN 2, WESTFIELD STATE 1

WESTFIELD >> Jesse Moore won it in double-overtime for MCLA with a goal in the 101st minute.

Anthony Basile gave the Trailblazers a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute but Brodie Keene tied it for Westfield State in the 86th minute.

MCLA is back on the field on Friday when it hosts Worcester State.

WESTFIELD STATE 5, MCLA WOMEN 0

NORTH ADAMS >> Taylor Grijalva scored twice for Westfield State in its win over MCLA.

Kate Matroni, Bella Eduardo and Alyssa Richard also scored for Westfield State. For MCLA, Katy Daly had five saves and Megan Richardson recorded four.

The Trailblazers are back in action Wednesday when they host Western New England.
