Long a source for local scans

As a radiologist located at North Adams Regional Hospital, I wanted to provide additional information in regards to Monday’s article titled "BMC adds sophisticated tool to its cancer-fighting arsenal."

In conjunction with Berkshire Hematology/Oncology (BHO) and Alliance Imaging, my partners and I have been interpreting PET/CT scans since 2008 for Berkshire County patients. The Alliance mobile unit has been, even through this past weekend, located every Friday and Saturday at the BHO office in Pittsfield and the images interpreted by our group based at NARH.

Patients have not been required to travel to Springfield or Albany for these scans. While it appears the professional situation may be changing, this important service will hopefully continue uninterrupted for our local patients.
