Man pleads guilty to raping young boy

PITTSFIELD -- A Pittsfield man was sentenced on Thursday to up to 10 years in state prison after he pleaded guilty to raping a young boy.

Robert LaBarre, 24, pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Thursday to two counts of raping a child with force. The now 9-year-old boy was raped in incidents which took place between October 2010 and July 2012.

In addition, LaBarre pleaded guilty to five counts of posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, and seven counts of knowingly possessing visual material of a child depicted in sexual conduct.

He was given a sentence of 8 to 10 years in prison by Judge Daniel Ford. He also faces 10 years of probation when he is released. He is barred from having any contact with the victim or any child under 16 during the probationary period. He will have to undergo counseling, and will be restricted from any computer access unless it is approved by the probation department. He will also have to register as a sex offender.

The investigation was conducted by the Pittsfield Police Department.
