Man seriously wounded in North Adams stabbing; suspect sought

NORTH ADAMS — City police are searching for a suspect after a stabbing early Saturday left one man with serious injuries.

About 1:14 a.m., a woman called police to say her friend had been stabbed and that she was pursuing an alleged assailant on Church Street, police said.

The caller reported that she was continuing her pursuit and was in the area of Dover Street and Windham Terrace. She eventually lost sight of the suspect.

At 1:32 a.m., another man called to report that his brother had been stabbed and was at 181 Church St.. The caller said the wounds were on the man's left side and that the victim was semi-conscious.

The victim was transported to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. His condition could not be learned, but police don't believe his injuries to be life threatening.

Church Street was closed from Quincy Street to Washington Avenue and two houses, 185 and 181 Church St. were surrounded by police tape.

Police referred all questions to the Berkshire District Attorney's office.
