Man sought in Mass. rape case caught in upstate NY
EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (AP) - New York State Police say a suspect in a rape case in Massachusetts is being held in an upstate jail after being arrested at a suburban Albany motel.
Troopers say police in Southborough, Mass., received a complaint Sunday night of sexual assaults that had been occurring in the town located 25 miles east of Boston. Southborough police say they identified the suspect as 58-year-old Robert Cerqua of Southborough.
Massachusetts State Police alerted New York troopers that Cerqua may have fled to the Albany area. Troopers found him early Monday morning at a motel in East Greenbush, in Rensselaer County across the Hudson River from Albany.
He's being held in the county jail without bail. Troopers say Cerqua faces aggravated statutory rape charges in Massachusetts.
It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer.
