Man who stabbed NY state trooper still at large

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they want to question an 18-year-old man about the stabbing of a trooper stationed at the Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany.

Troopers say Monday afternoon they're looking for Eric Green, whose address isn't known.

Police say a man used a steak knife to stab Trooper Rodney Smith in the neck and face after approaching him around 3:15 p.m. Sunday in the concourse of the state government complex. Police say the man told Smith he was new in town and didn't know anyone, then pulled a knife and attacked the trooper.

The man fled the scene on foot with Smith's radio, but the trooper was able to call for help using a cellphone.

He was taken to a hospital and is expected to fully recover.
