Marians, Lighthouse Catholic Media plan mission for Lee
STOCKBRIDGE -- The Congregation of Marians will be providing pastoral support for a mission planned to go into Lee.
Mark Middendorf, president of Lighthouse Catholic Media, confirmed that his non-profit group is in negotiations to buy a building in the town of Lee for use as a dormitory residence for Marians.
"They will go into homeless shelters, hospitals and jails throughout the area," said Robin Parow, director of communications for the Marians.
The plan is for the ministries to extend into Boston, New York City and cities and towns in between, not just Berkshire County, said Middendorf.
Lighthouse Catholic Media, founded in 2005, is an Illinois-based not-for-profit company that specializes in promoting the Catholic faith, primarily through presentations on audio CDs and MP3s from notable Catholic speakers.
The company produces CDs in both English and Spanish.
Middendorf said Lighthouse will purchase the building, hopefully by the end of May.
"We are extremely fortunate the Marians have agreed to lend their pastoral services for this project," said Middendorf.
