Market 32 and Price Chopper issue voluntary recall of ice cream product

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper and Market 32 Supermarkets have issued a voluntary recall on 48 ounce Central Market Classics Caramel Caribou Ice Cream.

The product is being recalled due to the possible presence of metal shavings.

Most of the customers who purchased these items have already been contacted through Price Chopper's SoundBite notification program, which uses purchase data and consumer phone numbers on file in connection with the company's AdvantEdge (loyalty card) to alert households that may have purchased the product in question.

Customers with the affected product should return it to their local Price Chopper for a full refund. In the Berkshires, Price Chopper operates stores in Great Barrington, Lee, Lenox and North Adams and a Market 32 in Pittsfield.
