Mass. Congressmen honor Olver, Frank at convention
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- Massachusetts congressmen have paid tribute to their retiring colleagues Reps. John Olver and Barney Frank at the state's Democratic convention in Springfield.
At Saturday's convention, U.S. Democratic Reps. Nicki Tsongas, Richard Neal, Bill Keating, James McGovern, Edward Markey and John Tierney thanked their fellow congressmen for their work in Washington and in Massachusetts.
Olver, who represents much of western Massachusetts, addressed the crowd, thanking voters for their support throughout his long career. He's held his seat since 1991 and was a member of the House Appropriations panel. Olver said he's stepping-down to take care of his wife, who has cancer.
Frank, who did not speak at the convention, is retiring after more than three decades in office. He represents the 4th Congressional District in southeastern Massachusetts.
