Mass. youth dies after crashing at Stratton Mountain


STRATTON MOUNTAIN -- A 16-year-old Massachusetts youth died from injuries sustained during a snowboarding accident on March 22.

According to a press release from the Winhall Police Department, Tommy Hoang was on a snowboard for the first time when he went off the 91 Trail at Stratton Mountain Resort and crashed into a sign near a wooded area. Members of the Stratton Mountain Ski Patrol responded and found Hoang without a pulse, but ski patrollers and medical personnel at the Carlos Otis Clinic were able to reestablish a pulse.

Hoang was flown by helicopter to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
