Mazzeo to deliver keynote address at Mildred Elley graduation


PITTSFIELD -- Pittsfield City Council President Melissa Mazzeo will deliver the keynote address at Mildred Elley’s commencement exercises on Thursday.

The graduation ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. at the Barrington Stage Company’s MainStage performance space on Union Street.

More than 50 students will receive certificates from several different programs including business management, medical assisting, paralegal studies, early childhood education, cosmetology and massage therapy.

The ceremony will also include the presentation of awards, including the Excellence in Teaching Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Presidential and Academic Achievement Awards.

Currently serving her third term as an at large councilor, Mazzeo grew up in Dalton, and graduated from Wahconah Regional High School. She earned an associate in science degree in dental hygiene from Springfield Technical Community College, and was a 2012 delegate to the Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.
