McCann makes tourney Nguyen scores twice for Hornets; Wahconah girls get a win

Friday October 5, 2012

NORTH ADAMS -- The McCann Tech girls soccer team recorded its ninth win of the year, qualifying for the Western Massachusetts Division III tournament by taking a 3-1 win over Pathfinder.

The Hornets (9-1) spotted the visitors a one-goal lead on an early score, but regained the lead with a pair of scores by Mary Nguyen and a goal from Alexa Durant.

"They came at us pretty hard," said Hornets coach Mike Downing. "They scored first, and it seemed to wake us up. But that was our ninth win, so we're in the tournament."
