McCann names top students
NORTH ADAMS -- Justin Kratz, principal of McCann Technical School, has named Makenna Lindsey Arnold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Arnold, as valedictorian, and Jessica Sue-Ann Lesure, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lesure, as salutatorian for the graduating Class of 2014.
Both students graduated from McCann Technical School with high honors on June 4.
Arnold is a graduate of the Computer Assisted Drafting and Design Program. She is a recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent’s Award for Academic Excellence.
She has been awarded numerous Undergraduate Awards for Excellence in CAD and Science, was a member of both the National Honor Society and SkillsUSA. Over the past four years at McCann, Arnold has set high standards for her performance. She will be attending University of Massachusetts-Amherst in the fall.
Lesure, a graduate of the Machine Technology program, is the recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and was the first female student from McCann to become an RPI medalist.
Among her many accomplishments, Lesure has also earned Undergraduate Awards for Excellence in Honors Precalculus and Honors History, is the Chapter Secretary of the SkillsUSA chapter and has earned bronze medals at the District and State levels of competition in Automated Manufacturing Technology and a bronze medal at the School level for Related Technical Math.
She was also a member of the National Honor Society, the varsity cross-country team and volunteered at the North Adams Regional Hospital this past summer.
Lesure will be attending University of Massachusetts-Amherst in the fall, majoring in pre-med.
