Media failing to reveal key facts

Saturday June 9, 2012

By not reporting daily, the facts regarding the specific harmful acts of many corporations and political groups, the media are not doing their part to make voters aware of the destruction of our democracy. These greedy, unfair and counterproductive actions should be highlighted in front page articles and not just found on the editorial page.

The Berkshire Eagle does well with its editorials containing important facts and differing opinions. However, many people skim the headlines for topics that concern them. That is why we need more factual news items in the headlines and on the front pages and less of the celebrity and weird items in our newspapers and other media sources.

Our country is going backwards and not to the "good old days" of the 1950s when there was hope for all levels of society to prosper. Instead, we are going back to the "bad old days" of the 1850s when there was little hope for the working poor and children and women had no rights.

This is a plea to all media to step up and help save our great country by getting the important facts out in a timely and important way.
