Menard gets 2012 labor award
PITTSFIELD -- Peter Men ard of Windsor has been chosen as the Berkshire Cen tral La bor Council’s Pers on of the Year.
He will receive the award on Sunday, Oct. 28 during the council’s annual labor-legislative breakfast at the ITAM Lodge on 93 Waubeek Road. The event begins at 8:30 a.m.
Menard is the president of the International Union of Electrical Workers/Com mu nication Workers of Amer ica Local 255 Retirees.
A former county commissioner, Menard has long been active in local, state and na tional political campaigns. He is a strong believer in the power of everyday workers to effect positive change in their work places, communities, states and the nation.
The Central Labor Coun cil’s annual event is intended to both celebrate the positive impact of labor unions for their members and their communities, and to bring together legislators and union members to de velop mutual goals. The council’s Labor Person of the Year is honored at each event.
Individual tickets for the labor legislative breakfast are $20. Tickets for tables of eight are also available for $160.
