Monday's soccer roundup: Lee girls shut out Mount Everett, 4-0

Tuesday September 11, 2012

LEE -- In a 4-0 win over Mount Everett that featured plenty of offense for the Lee girls soccer team, Wildcats coach Lauren Finnegan gave a lot of credit to her defense.

"Our defense truly kept the forwards in the game," Finnegan said of her back line of Hadley Cook, Nicole Beliveau, Meghan Cook and Nikki Laudon. "They [Everett] could not penetrate our defense, so our defenders kept the ball going forward, which allowed us to barrel at the goal as much as we could."

The Wildcats certainly did that, outshooting the Eagles 34-4. Victoria Murphy scored Lee’s first two goals, with Stephanie Young scoring the other two.

Sam Hoover stopped 30 shots for Mount Everett.

Margot Besnard had a pair of saves. She also added an assist, punting a long ball that got behind the Crusader defense. Alex Majetich picked the ball up and popped in for a score.
