Monterey: Colonial museum offers food preservation workshop


The Bidwell House Museum is offering a craft workshop on "Methods of Food Preservation" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at 100 Art School Road.

Participants will learn colonial methods of food preservation as well as different forms of year-round storage. Using foods harvested from the Bidwell House Museum garden, participants will practice drying, curing, pickling, and fermenting.

All materials are provided. Bring a bag lunch. The cost is $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Pre-register online at
