Monterey: Democratic Town Committee plans caucus


The Monterey Democratic Town Committee will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19, in the church basement to review requests from voters interested in being nominated for elected town positions and endorsed by the party.

The caucus will begin in closed session for Town Committee members. At 11 a.m., the caucus will be open to all registered Democrats and Independents.

Letters of interest and acceptance (if nominated) for available town positions may be addressed to Monterey Democratic Town Committee, Monterey, MA 01245-0356.

Elected town offices to be filled in May include: Board of Appeals, five years; Board of Assessors, three years; Board of Health, three years; Cemetery Commission, three years; Constable, three years; Finance Committee, three years; Library Trustee, two three-year terms, one one-year term; Moderator, one year; Parks Commission, two three-year terms; Planning Board, one five-year term, one two-year term; Select Board, three years; Tax Collector, three years; Treasurer, three years; Tree Warden, one year.

The deadline to submit nomination papers to the town clerk is 5 p.m. March 22.

An additional meeting at 7 p.m. March 23, in the church basement, will include an opportunity to hear from candidates in contested races in both town and District-wide state elections.
