The Bidwell House Museum is hosting a talk about the "dos and don’ts" of furniture restoration at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Restorer Graham Dean of Great Barrington, who has worked with MacGruer Antique Restorations in Austerlitz, N.Y., for 20 years, will talk about approaches to maintenance and repair of antique wood furniture.

Topics include preserving wood surfaces, best cleaning and maintenance practices, how to approach worn or stained finishes, and what to do about unglued chair and drawer joints.

Questions will be welcomed at the end of the talk.

The Bidwell House Museum is located at 100 Art School Road. The suggested donation for this talk is $15 per person, $10 for members of the museum. Information: (413) 528-6888 or www.bidwellhousemuseum.org.
