GREAT BARRINGTON -- The Drury girls’ soccer team drew first blood in its season opener, but three unanswered goals from Monument Mountain earned the Spartans a 3-1 victory.

Cori Ghidotti scored in the ninth minute for Drury on a breakaway before Ashley Harrington tied it in the 12th. Drury never scored again, but coach Molly Meczywor said her team dominated in the half.

"That was the best half of soccer we’ve played in two years," she said.
