ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- New York transportation officials are reporting snowy and icy conditions on many upstate New York roads as temperatures slowly climb toward the freezing mark.

Most of the major highways are clear, with crews out clearing the remnants of the winter storm that rolled through the region on Monday and overnight.

Drizzle, slick roads and fog in higher elevations was forecast for the early commute this morning in central New York and the Finger Lakes.

The National Weather Service says there will be freezing drizzle and a slight accumulation of ice in the Mohawk and Schoharie valleys and the Capital Region.

Western New York could see thunderstorms and temperatures near 50 this afternoon as a warm front moves east, bringing rain to much of upstate through Wednesday.
