Mount Washington voters tap write-in candidate for moderator

MOUNT WASHINGTON — Write-in candidate Morgan Bulkeley has won a one-year term as town moderator in this year's annual town elections.

As usual, Mount Washington residents were among the most civic-minded in the county, with 51 of the 127 registered voters in town, or 40 percent, participating in the election.

Bulkeley got 37 votes to replace longtime Moderator Orville Garrett. Another write-in, Mary King Austin, won election as library trustee with 4 votes.

Candidates on the ballot were all unopposed. They were Selectman Brian Tobin, Town Clerk Gail Garrett, Assessor Victorine Torrico, Constable David O. Whitbeck, School Committee member Keith Torrico, Library Trustee Elizabeth Kasevich, Planner Bill Short and Treasurer Leslianne Furcht.

There were no takers for a one-year term as auditor.
