Mt. Washington to decide on 1.1 percent spending hike at Annual Town Meeting

MOUNT WASHINGTON -- Voters at this year’s Annual Town Meeting will be asked to approve a 14 article warrant that includes a town budget of $675,441, a 1.1 percent increase over the current plan.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Town Hall,

The biggest hike for voters will be a jump of $31,863 in the school budget, to $181,952. Town insurance next year will be $69,763, a jump of $27,863. The other major increase is $30,000 for machinery maintenance, up $10,000.

Town salaries are slightly down, from $16,776 to $16,748 next year.

Article 12 will ask residents to raise $81,822 for the Stabilization Fund. This will require a two-thirds majority to approve.
