Musical "Wedding Singer" opens Thursday at The Theater Barn

NEW LEBANON, N.Y. >> "The Wedding Singer," a musical by Mathew Skylar (music), Chad Beguelin (lyrics and book), and Tim Terlihy (book), based on the Adam Sandler's 1998 movie hit, begins a two-weekend run Thursday at The Theater Barn on Route 20.

Performances through Sept, 4 are 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

It's 1985 and rock star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him on the altar.

Making her debut at The Theater Barn, director/choreographer Ann Cooley has a cast of performers that includes Joanna Russell ("Evita" – 2015) as Julia, Jared Sigler as Robbie, and Amy Fiebke, Patti DeMatteo, Ricky Gee and Nolan Burke.

Matthew Russell returns as musical director following his work in "Forever Plaid" and "Hello Muddah ."
