Nature's Path issues granola mix recall; Great Barrinton Big Y pulls it from shelves

SPRINGFIELD -- Nature's Path issued a recall of its "bulk hemp plus granola trail mix" sold at Big Y Foods supermarkets because it may contain almond slices, an undeclared nut allegen.

The product was only sold in about 15 of Big Y's 64 stores in Massachusetts and Connecticut. In Berkshire County, Nature's Path bulk hemp granola mix was sold only at Big Y's supermarket in Great Barrington, according to the company.

The other supermarkets in Massachusetts that carried the product are in Northampton, Fresh Acres, Amherst, Wilbraham, Southwick, Walpole, Holden and Westfield Slopes.

The sell-by date for this product is June 12 to June 14, 2013. Due to the recall, Big Y pulled the product immediately from its shelves. Customers who have purchased the product can return it for a full refund.

"We maintain the highest standards of performance in all areas of our World Class Markets especially when it comes to the well being of our community," said Cas Tryba, Big Y's director of food safety.
