Need better laws for farm animals

Monday June 17, 2013

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

A farm started in Lanesborough last fall, and in December, the sheep were out there with snow hanging on their faces and eyelids. I complained and they finally put them in a barn.

In the spring, they were back with babies the size of poodles. They had no cover from the rain, lightning or coyotes. The baby sheep could drown in bad storms. I complained again and they put up a small tarp, big enough for a few to get under. According to the law, this is all they have to provide for farm animals.

We need better laws to protect those that cannot speak for themselves.
