New England braces for more heat

Thursday June 28, 2012

BOSTON (AP) - Another round of steamy summer weather is headed for New England, but temperatures aren't expected to climb as high as they did during last week's heat wave.

The National Weather Service says temperatures in Boston and much of southern New England will approach or perhaps top the 90 degree mark on Friday and again on Saturday.

Thunderstorms are also possible on Friday.

Slightly cooler temperatures are forecast for much of northern New England.

Much of the nation has been baking in record-setting heat.

More than 250 record-high temperatures were recorded around the country on Tuesday, adding to the more than one-thousand records that were eclipsed in the previous week.
