New Lebanon Library kicks off its annual Summer Reading Program with master falconer Lorrie Schumacher and her array of raptors and falcons at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, at Shatford Memorial Park on Route 22. The event is free and open to the public.

Schumacher will present an interactive program featuring hawks, owls, a falcon, and a raven. Participants will get the chance to see raptors up close, feel their feathers, and even hold one of these birds.

The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program is "Dig Into Reading." Sign-ups at the library begin immediately and the program will run through Aug. 16.

Children who participate are eligible for prizes. Adults and teens also may participate.
