PITTSFIELD -- Peter Bergman of Pittsfield has joined the executive team of the Berkshire County Historical Society at Arrowhead.

The former executive director of the Edna St. Vincent Millay Society at Steepletop in Austerlitz, N.Y., Bergman joins director Betsy Sherman and curator Will Garrison in the management of both the Historical Society and Arrowhead, author Herman Melville’s historic home.

A journalist, playwright, novelist, poet and theater critic, Bergman has held many roles in the Berkshires’ arts scene over the past 30 years. He previously was an assistant at Arrowhead under former director Louise McCue.

Sherman, a former board member of the Historical Society, has been director since 2008. Garrison spent 10 years as cultural resources manager for The Trustees of Reservations in Stockbridge.
