New Marlborough man hurt seriously in Barrington crash


GREAT BARRINGTON -- A New Marlborough man was seriously injured following a one-vehicle crash on Route 23 near the Monterey town line on Tuesday.

According to Great Barrington police, 22-year-old Justin Bona was driving east on Route 23 shortly after 1 a.m. when his pickup truck slammed into a tree off the eastbound lane. Bona was trapped in his vehicle for one hour, before rescuers could free him from the wreckage.

Due to extensive injuries, police said Bona was airlifted from a nearby field to Hartford Hospital, where a condition report was unavailable. Route 23 in the area of the crash was closed for about two hours. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
