New Troy theater seeking fresh scripts for play-reading series

TROY, N.Y. — Troy Foundry Theatre, a new theater company based in the Capital District, is accepting submissions for the March and April/May sessions of its Dark Day Mondays Free Reading Series.

The March session will specifically highlight female playwrights.

The April/May Mountain Valley Playwrights session is specifically for playwrights who reside in the Hudson Valley, the Catskills and parts north, the Berkshires and parts west, and the Adirondacks and parts south, using Troy as the epicenter.

Submissions for either session will be accepted until 5 p.m. Jan. 26.

Reading dates are March 12, 19 and 28, and April 30 and May 7 and 14.

The submitted play needs to be recently written and possibly never staged before. There are no restrictions on script-length or subject. Monologues will not be considered.

Submissions should be sent to submissions@troyfoundrytheatre.com.

The subject line should read "FEMALE PLAYWRIGHT SESSION or MOUNTAIN VALLEY SESSION_(Playwrights Name)_(Play's Title)"

The email needs to have attached:

- The full play in PDF format and a play summary (no more than one paragraph)

- History of the play (any previous readings or performances)

- The playwright's phone number and email

- The playwright's resume

There is a $20 per play submission fee. Plays will not be considered until the submission fee is received.
