New York City man charged in Berkshires on multiple counts of child rape

PITTSFIELD -- A Brooklyn, N.Y., man is facing 13 sexual assault charges stemming from alleged incidents going back nearly 20 years.

Nathan Milette, 40, sexually abused a now 22-year-old man beginning when he was about 4 until he was about 14, according to police and prosecutors.

Milette has denied seven counts of rape of a child with force, four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child who has attained 14.

The case was investigated by the Pittsfield Police Department and state troopers assigned to the Cheshire barracks. It is being prosecuted by Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Rachael Eramo. The case went straight to the grand jury, bypassing the District Court.

Milette was arrested in New York City on a warrant and arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court earlier this month. He is being held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $25,000 cash or $250,000 surety bail.

A motion hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 10.

In 2007, Milette was charged in Central Berkshire District Court with failing to register as a sex offender. Those charges were continued without a finding of guilt and dismissed, according to court records.

Milette is represented by attorney Richard D. LeBlanc.
