No contested races in Lenox annual town elections
LENOX — Voters at Monday's annual town election will find no contested races on the ballot and two open positions with no listed candidates.
Unopposed for a third three-year term is Selectman Kenneth Fowler, owner of the Shear Design hair salon. Also unopposed for his second one-year stint as town moderator is John McNinch, owner of the Old Heritage Tavern and a former selectman.
School Committee Chairman Robert Vaughan is unopposed for another three-year term. David Rimmler, a former chemical industry executive, is the only listed candidate to fill the seat vacated by the committee's Vice Chairwoman Veronica Fenton, an attorney pursuing her new career as an educator.
Molly Elliot is seeking election to a two-year School Committee slot following her appointment last November to complete the term held by the late Jo Anne Magee.
Unopposed for a one-year term is Dr. Christine Mauro, appointed earlier this year following the resignation of Michael Moran. Mauro, who moved to Lenox last year, is medical director for surgical innovations at Medtronic in New Haven, Conn.
Pamela Kueber, a corporate communications and marketing professional, former Zoning Board of Appeals member and a participant who helped put together the school district's five-year strategic plan, is running unopposed for a five-year Planning Board opening.
Other unopposed candidates on the ballot are Dianne Romeo for a three-year Board of Health slot and Diana Kirby for a five-year Lenox Housing Authority post.
Although there is no listed candidate for a three-year vacancy on the Board of Assessors, Thomas Romeo, vice president of BHS Physician Services, stated in an e-mail message that he "would be very happy to serve if elected in an a write-in campaign."
There is no listed candidate for a three-year Planning Board term, though John Tansey, managing partner of Lenox Executive Search and recently appointed to the board, may be a write-in candidate.
All the candidates named on the official ballot are endorsed by the Lenox Democratic caucus except for McNinch and Rimmler, who are unenrolled.
There were 3.826 registered voters as of April 15, including 1,749 unenrolled, 1,646 Democrats and 400 Republicans. In last year's local election, 279 votes were cast.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Town Hall.
