Nonprofit heads sought for Harvard course

SHEFFIELD -- The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is inviting directors of nonprofit organizations in its coverage area to apply for a scholarship to attend a six-day intensive training program that takes place this summer at the Harvard Business School in Boston.

The deadline for filing applications is Thursday, March 1.

The program takes place July 14-20. Under Berkshire Taconic’s sponsorship, two selected directors will attend "Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management," a program designed to strengthen the capacity of nonprofit directors to lead their organizations effectively. The Harvard Business School is providing two full scholarships to the program that are valued at $5,000.

To be eligible, an applicant must be a chief executive officer responsible for direction, mission, focus, policies and major programs and have been in their current role for at least one year. The organization must have a budget of at least $500,000 and a minimum of several full-time employees. The organization must have been fully operational for at least one year and out of the start-up phase.
