North Adams: BMC diabetes education program expands to North Berkshire

Berkshire Medical Center is expanding its Diabetes Education Program to assist those living in North Berkshire facing diabetes.

The BMC Diabetes Education Program will begin operations in North Berkshire on Thursday, June 19, with offices at 26 Union St. Classes will run from 2 to 4 p.m. on four consecutive Thursdays each month.

Diabetes Education group classes will be held regularly for those newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or previously diagnosed who would like to receive comprehensive education on living with diabetes. The classes will provide a full overview of diabetes and its treatments, as well as lifestyle modification techniques and nutrition planning.

Patients who are interested in attending will require an individual assessment prior to attendance. To schedule an appointment for the assessment, or to register for the classes, call (413) 395-7942, and ask for North Adams site services. Space for the classes is limited.

The BMC Diabetes Education Program is certified by the American Diabetes Association, and the BMC program works closely with physicians and the treatment plans they provide their patients.
