North Adams: Boston teacher to deliver MCLA convocation address

Posted

Monique Symes '11, a Boston Public Schools teacher and a member of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' Alumni Association board of directors, will deliver this year's convocation address at noon Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the MCLA Church Street Center's Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium.

This event is free and open to the public.

Symes received her bachelor of arts degree in English/communications at MCLA in 2011, with a concentration in broadcast media and a minor in political science. As an undergraduate, she co-founded NeXXus, the College's step team; served as a residential advisor; and found time to graduate a semester early.

After earning her master of education degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Symes joined Boston Public Schools, where she is a teacher at Dever-McCormack K-8 School in Dorchester.
