North Adams: Confederate submarine is subject of lecture


The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Visitors Museum at Western Gateway Heritage State Park will present the illustrated lecture, "CSA Hunley: First Submarine," at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, as part of its Civil War 150 Years series.

The Confederate States of America’s Hunley was the first submarine used in a naval battle. This illustrated lecture will explore the ship that changed naval warfare tactics and the brief battle that was fought in February 1864.

Western Gateway Heritage State Park is located south of the Hadley Overpass on Route 8. The Visitors Museum is in building 4.
