North Adams: DownStreet Art events slated Thursday


Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ Berkshire Cultural Resource Center will host the next DownStreet Art from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 31, with the opening of nine new exhibitions, open studios by local artists, pop-up happenings, and community events throughout downtown.

Highlights include a celebration of artist Corwin Levi’s new mural located on Veteran’s Memorial Bridge (Route 2 Overpass) at 6:15 p.m., exhibition openings at all of the DownStreet Art galleries, a crosswalk painting effort from 4 to 9 p.m., and musical performances.

Mountain One Bank Gallery will host an early gallery reception from 5 to 6 p.m. for Ian Grey’s newest project, "Elements." DIScourse Gallery A will feature an artist talk with book artist Nava Atlas at 5:30 p.m.

The DownStreet Art Trolley will run on an art loop from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning at Mass MoCA, where Independent Art Projects will have its grand opening, stopping at galleries along Main Street, the Rudd Art Museum, and all DownStreet art murals.
