North Adams: Emancipation Proclamation topic of talk

The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Visitors Museum at Western Gateway Heritage State Park will offer "The Emancipation Proclamation" at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, as part of its Civil War 150 Years Series.

This illustrated lecture commemorates the 150th anniversary of the issuing of the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863, during the Civil War. The program will explore the full story about one of the most celebrated and controversial decisions ever made by a president.

Western Gateway Heritage State Park is south of the Hadley Overpass on Route 8. The Visitors Museum is in building #4. Information: (413) 663-6312.
