North Adams: Fire Department to host open house Sunday

Friday October 5, 2012

The North Adams Fire Department is teaming up with National Fire Protection Association during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 7-13, to encourage residents to prevent home fires and protect their families.

The Fire Department will hold an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7.

This year’s theme, "Have 2 Ways Out!" reminds residents to a home fire escape plan with two ways out and practice it at least twice a year.

Papa Gino’s will be sponsoring the open house by providing pizza and refreshments to the community while they tour the fire station and learn about fire safety.

Firefighter/Fire Educator John Marlowe will be on hand to provide tips on creating a fire escape plan, proper use of fire extinguishers and demonstrations on "stop, drop and roll."
