North Adams: Illustrated lecture to explore the Atomic Age
The Department of Conservation & Recreation’s Visitors Museum at Western Gateway Heritage State Park will present an illustrated lecture titled "The War that Never Was -- The Atomic Age" at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9.
During the first 10 days of August 1945 with the dropping of atomic bombs, the Atomic Age was born, and with it an enduring fear of humankind’s uncontrolled power. This illustrated lecture will take the audience back to the time when World War III was never more than a push of a button away.
Western Gateway Heritage State Park is located south of the Hadley Overpass on Route 8. The Visitors Museum is in building 4.
Information: (413) 663-6312.
